"You know Matt, as fun as this road trip was, I miss home," Emily said. Matt stared into the distance, looking for a hotel.
"Well, we won't be making it home tonight," he said. Emily grinned mischieviously.
"I don't mind another sleepless night," she said. Matt smirked.
"I'm sure you don't." He pulled off into the next exit. A Larriot hotel came into view, and they pulled in. Emily noticed a gaggle of high school girls ogling Matt as he went to check them in. Emily gripped her bag and gave them her fiercest look. They backed off, looking very well frightened, but Emily was sure she would have to deal with them later. Matt came back with their key, and they carried their luggage upstairs.

Matt lay on the bed with his hands behind his head. Emily yawned and lifted her head off of his bare chest.
"I think I'm gonna shower," she told him. Matt shrugged.
"Okay, have fun." Emily picked her clothes up off the floor, put them in a plastic bag, and grabbed her pajamas and toiletries. Matt looked at the clock. 'Midnight already?' he thought, somewhat surprised. He kicked his clothes next to his luggage and pulled on some long pajama pants. He lay back down on the bed, relaxing, reaching the brink of sleep. Suddenly, his phone started ringing.

Honey why you callin me so late?

He picked up the phone "Hello?"
"H...hey Matt!" came the shaky reply. Matt's heart sped up.
"Christie?!"
"Yeah, it's me...w-whats up?" she choked out. Matt heard the shower cut off. "Er...well...Emily and I...we're kind of on a road trip...our last night is tonight and we're going home tomorrow...hold on a second."

It's kind of hard to talk right now.

He hid the phone under the pillow as Emily came out.
"That was quick," he said.
"Yeah, the water got cold fast," she said with a frown. "Anyways, I'm going to read before bed,"she said, picking a few mangas from her bag. She blew him a kiss and went into the adjacent T.V. room. He pullled the phone back out after she shut the door. "Christie?" he whispered.
"Y-yeah...?" she sniffled.

Honey why you cryin? S'everything okay?

"Christie? What's up?" he asked.
"I-I-I...I really don't know Matt. I just...I feel really dumb now...I didn't want you to think I forgot you again...I'm not making any sense, I should probably just go, sorry for bothering you."
"No, wait," he whispered.

Gotta whisper cuz I can't be too loud.

"Christie...I really don't know what to say. You know romance and emotions aren't my playing field."
"I know...sorry..." she said quietly. "I have no will power," she said finally, with a small half hearted laugh. Matt's heart ached. Even though he liked Emily, something in him had been magnetically drawn to Christie since the first day he saw her at the con. He never stopped missing or caring for Christie.
"Christie...you know I've, well...I've missed you.."

Well, my girl's in the next room. Sometimes I wish she was you. I guess we never really moved on.

"I'm glad you called...I really am," he continued.
"Matt...who was the girl who answered the phone when I called last time?"
"It was probably Sandra...or one of her friends...Christie...you know...it's-it's really good to hear from you."

It's really good to hear your voice saying my name, it sounds so sweet coming from the lips of an angel...

"Matt, you know you've done a whole lot for me, and I told myself...despite all this, I wouldn't chase you, because I want you to be happy...but my hand moved before I thought and I just...well, I just wanted...clarity, I guess...you know you're not easy to let go of, you big jerk," she said, trying to lighten the mood.

Hearing those words it makes me weak. And I never wanna say goodbye...

"Christie, you don't have to 'let go' of me," he said lamely. "You could..or well, I could...maybe..." he started, but failed.
"Matt, I don't want to make things harder on you..."

Girl you make it hard to be faithful with the lips of an angel.

"...so I should probably leave you alone," Christie said.
"But...well...er..Christie I was...thinking about you...today...and the first time I saw you at the con, and how...how much you needed help and..it made me feel good to imagine all that..and-"
"Matt, you don't have to try to make me feel better...I know this isn't like you, you don't have to force yourself to be nice."

It's kinda funny that you're calling me tonight. And yes, I dreamt of you too.

"I'm not, Christie," Matt siad, feeling slightly hurt. "You know how much of a cold stone wall I am. I don't express emotions. But you just take all that down. I don't know how you do it. I didn't think anyone could."
"Well at least you haven't totally replaced me..." Christie said, somewhat bitterly.
Matt was stung. "Christie...I didn't...but I better go, Emily will be back soon..."

Girl you know that talking to you will start a fight. No I don't think she has a clue.

"Emily thinks I'm over you...so...yeah...call me tomorrow night, okay?" he said.

Well, my girl's in the next room. Sometimes I wish she was you. I guess we never really moved on.

"Okay Matt..I'm really sorry for the trouble..."
"You know it's no trouble. The only trouble is tha you make me act like a human instead of a brick. That may cause some problems," he said jokingly. Christie giggled.
"I think I rather like your human side better."

It's really good to hear your voice saying my name it sounds so sweet, Coming from the lips of an angel hearing those words it makes me weak.

"I ... wish we could talk more," Christie said.
"Yeah. When did you get to be such a softie?" Matt teased.
"When did YOU grow a heart?" Christie retorted. Matt chuckled.
"I never believed all that shit about 'one girl can make a guy change' but...apparently..."

And I, never wanna say goodbye. But girl you make it hard to be faithful...with the lips of an angel.

Matt saw the light in the T.V. room go out. "Emily's coming. Gotta go."
"Oh okay, bye Matt. It was good to talk to you."

And I never wanna say goodbye, but girl you make it hard to be faithful...

"Hey Christie?"
"Yeah?" The remaining light coming from the T.V. shut off. Matt's heart pounded in his head, and he managed to control the shakiness in his voice. "I love you."

With the lips of an angel....
This is a short, one shot song fic I was inspired to write one day in Chemistry. (Because I really have nothing better to do in that class). As said above, it's from Dramacon, and the song used is "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder. I dont' claim either Dramacon or rights to the song, etc etc and so forth with the disclaimers. ^^; I hope you all like it. If you haven't read Dramacon, I highly recommend it. :]
